In the first of this year’s outings we took around 62 parents and children visit Odds Farm near Maidenhead. Katie, one of our newest volunteers, met the families at the pickup point in Reading and travelled with them on the coach. Two other volunteers, Mia and Laura, met the coach at the farm. All three made sure everyone arrived safely at the farm and boarded the bus on time to go home. The weather was perfect for the day out with warm sunshine. As it was still lambing season some of the families were even lucky enough to see a healthy baby lamb being born.
The families were very grateful to Reading Family Aid for inviting them on the trip and to the volunteers for making sure everyone got the best out of their day. In a new initiative we have been helping families with their Easter and Eid celebrations. We partnered with Visa Ltd to supply 50 Easter eggs to Home-Start Reading, and delivered a further 300 eggs to charities including Launchpad, Bounce Back 4 Kids, Berkshire Women's Aid, Reading Refugee Support Group, Alana House, Home-Start Wokingham and Grassrootz. We also included eggs for children in care via Reading Borough Council.
