Toys & Teens Appeal 2015
Our Toys & Teens Appeal 2015 has now launched!

Once again we will be collecting toys and gifts for children aged 0-16 years, whose families do not have the means to give their children the Happy Christmas which more fortunate children enjoy.

There are several ways you can support us:

Donate gifts
The most popular way to help us is to donate new or good-as-new toys and games for children up to the age of 16. For more information on how and where to donate visit our donations page. Donations can be made from 22nd October until 6th December, and we will collect, sort and distribute the toys between 7th-10th December.

Make a cash donation - Grow Your Tenner
Starting on Tuesday 13th October, Localgiving will be matching donations up to the value of £10 in their Grow Your Tenner campaign - so for each individual £10 donation you make we will receive £20! If you set up a direct debit donation of £10 per month then Localgiving will match the first 3 months and contribute an additional £30!

This is an unmissable opportunity to make your donation count even more. Please donate online by going to our Localgiving page.

Organise a toy collection
Perhaps your workplace, school or faith group would be happy to hold a collection. We can provide a poster to help you promote it, or you can download and print one here. For more information please contact us.

The Reading Chronicle continues to support the appeal and help raise the profile of such a worthwhile cause. They will also be publishing more information about the appeal over the coming months.

Other supporters this year include Big Yellow Self Storage, Waitrose Caversham,  Austin Logistics, Rabbits Vehicle Hire, Interserve, Verizon, Royal Bank of Scotland, Quintiles, Sainsbury and JACK FM Berkshire. Visit our Supporters page for more about our wonderful supporters.

Not forgetting many individual volunteers who give up their time to help out - last year there were 130 of you in total and 14 van drivers who covered over 600 miles.

In 2014 with your help we were able to support over 1,500 children from 648 families in the Reading area, and this year we hope to reach even more.

Below are some pictures of the sorting process last year.

Our volunteers built this fort that was kindly donated to check it had all the pieces. This would have made a child's Christmas day.

What a wonderful sight - a hall full of toys! By Monday afternoon we're ready to start packing. Each volunteer is given a family sack and off they go to fill it with toys, choosing carefully to pick the right gifts for the children in each family. When they've filled their first sack, it's back to the office to collect another... and another...

PictureWaitrose in Caversham kindly "lent" us members of their staff to help. Thank you so much, we couldn't do this without you.

PictureWednesday morning - and the sorting and packing goes on. But by the end of the day every last sack has been filled. Until next year...

A big thank you to all the volunteers featured in these photos, who helped distribute toys and gifts to over 1,500 Reading children in 2014.
