Toys & Teens Appeal 2016
The 2016 Reading Family Aid Toys & Teens Appeal has now closed and we are not accepting any further donations.
This annual appeal brings a little hope and happiness to local families living in desperate need, at a time of year when many feel lost and forgotten about.
Once again we will be collecting toys and gifts for children aged 0-16 years, whose families do not have the means to give their children the Happy Christmas which more fortunate children enjoy.
There are several ways you can support us:
Donate gifts
The most popular way to help us is to donate new or good-as-new toys and games for children up to the age of 16. For more information on how and where to donate visit our donations page. Donations can be made from 20th October until 4th December, following which we will collect, sort and distribute the toys.
Here is a list of this year's donation points.
Make a cash donation - Grow Your Tenner
Starting on Tuesday 18th October, Localgiving will be matching donations up to the value of £10 in their Grow Your Tenner campaign - so for each individual £10 donation you make we will receive £20! If you set up a direct debit donation of £10 per month then Localgiving will match the first 3 months and contribute an additional £30!
This is an unmissable opportunity to make your donation count even more. Please donate online by going to our Localgiving page.
Organise a toy collection
Perhaps your workplace, school or faith group would be happy to hold a collection. We can provide a poster to help you promote it, or you can download and print one here. For more information please contact us.
The Reading Chronicle continues to support the appeal and help raise the profile of such a worthwhile cause. They will also be publishing more information about the appeal over the coming weeks.
Other supporters this year include Big Yellow Self Storage, JACK FM Berkshire, Waitrose Caversham, Austin Logistics, Rabbits Vehicle Hire, Interserve, Royal Bank of Scotland, Quintiles and Sainsbury. Visit our Supporters page for more about our wonderful supporters.
Not forgetting many individual volunteers who give up their time to help out - last year there were 130 of you in total and 14 van drivers who covered over 600 miles.
In 2014 with your help we were able to support over 1,500 children from 648 families in the Reading area, and this year we hope to reach even more.
